The writer, however, not only flives the mode of cuituro but also th way to prepare it for use. My oxprrioncc is confined to raising a foTv' bushels annually in tho pardon for our own uso. Chicory belongs to the family of Com posite, ot compound flowers, and has milky juico like the dandelion. It pro duces its seeds the second year, yet tho root ia perennial, and even fragmeuts of it livoand grow. Tho root is whito, shaped like a carrot, but does not grow as large and has many branches or fibres. The flower stalks are about four feet high, branched with abundant foilago and nu merous largo bluo flowers. Clearness of tho eye to a suro indication of goodncbs, But this is not all tho oyolids, cyobrows, and all other appondages, must bo considered ; for many horses, whose eyes appear cloar and brilliant, go blind at an earley ago ; there fore, bo careful to obsorvc whether the parts between tho oyolids and eyebrows aro swollen, for this indicates that tho eye will not last.
