The Antlers House Opened. J. M. Callison, who for the past four months has had charge ol the Tucumcari Hotel, will this week take possession of the new room ing house located on the corner of Smith and Adams streets, known as the Antlers House. This hand some building has just lately been put up by a Mr. Pitts of Elk City, Oklahoma. The building contains twenty-six rooms, all of which are furnished in the most up-to-date style. Mr. Callison is a genial host, and parties stopping with him will be accorded the best of treatment. Paul Smith of Shelbyville, 111., who spent last week in this city, has returned to his home to make arrangements to locate at or near Tucumcari. Mr. Smith is a man of considerable means and says this is the country he is looking for. Great volumes of black smoke rolled forth from the smoke stackr. of the new El Paso & Southwestern shops Friday morning, the wheels of the engine revolved for the first time; the big steam hammar is in place and working order; and sev eral of the machines are practically ready for operation; the shafting is all in place. The new roundhouse has been occupied and roundhouse light re pair work is being done and en gines being received and sent out regularly from the same. The roundhouse is fifteen stalls, and employes a considerable force of men. The new coal chute is com plete and in use.
