SACHSE NEWS Shining on the community, events and people of Sachse Publisher Chad B. Engbrock Managing Editor Donnita Nesbit Fisher Letter to the Editor Thursday, February 24, 2005 - THE SACHSE NEWS - Section A - Page 7 Opinion & Commentary Where in the world is Bennett Road? You won't see a street sign with that name. I was lucky enough that my neighbor knew the answer to this question. Bennett Road is better known as CR 434, a gravel country road. What are the plans for this road? Wylie ISD is strongly considering developing 64 acres located on Bennett Road into a 5A high school. This makes me wonder ... How does WISD plan to accom- modate a high school with the existing two lane road (Brown) surrounding Bennett Road/CR 434? The current Wylie 4A high school has an eight-lane highway that feeds into it. If the Bennett fe|oad property is developed by the School board, we're going to have a 5A high school with a two-lane road as its access. Even if Brown is expanded to four lanes,...

Now that they're in the postsea- son for the first time in seven years, they have won the first two playoff games by a combined 21 points over Texarkana Texas High and Frisco. Those two wins earned them the matchup they wanted and a chance to get back at their longtime neme- sis Poteet, which beat them twice in district play this year. Wylie last beat Poteet in the last game of the season last year. A win against Poteet in Tuesday's Region II Quarterfinal at Rockwall would put Wylie in the semifinal against the winner of Tuesday's game between Waxahachie and South Oak Cliff.
