Melbourne Cattle Market. Wednesday, July 22. 'FAT CATTLE. 3,100 were entered for sale, coil siting of 2,230 hillocks and 870 cows; It soon became apparent that the supply was largely in excess of requirements, and as sales progressed prices receded to fully 20/ per head under former quot ations. During the afternoon fot some time competition was so ex ceedingly slack that pi ices fre quently suffered a decline of from 30/' to 40/ per head. The decline in pricts was equally pronounced in all grades, handy and seasonable weights in some cases realising prices approaching low store rates The cow market was a reflex of that for bullocks, aud towards the close .middling and inferior cows were difficult to quit at low figines best beef, sinking offal, receding, from 53/ and 52/ to 48/ per 100 lb Quotations:—Prime pens of bu! ocks from .£17/13/ to ,/.21: extra from _£22 to £23/10/: guod .from ,£15 vo ,£16/10/: good light and handy weights, from .£11 to ^£14 second from .£8/10/ to .£10/10/;...

Tocumwal Brass Band. A meeting of the committee was held in the Pavilion on Thuisday evening of last week, there being present Messrs J. D. Davies (presi dent), F. W. Beastey, W. Kidd, A.. Sheldrick, G. Love, F. McGuigan, H. Hearu and H. McVittie. Correspondence was read from the secretaries of the Anniversary Day sports, re engaging the baud. After an animated discussion, during which the president pointed out that the sports meeting was of a so mi-patriotic nature, It. was re solved, on the motion of Missis Lovo and Sheldrick, that the scale charges of tha band be waived ou this occasion and that no charge be made, provided the spoits com mittee permitted the baud to take up a collection on the grounds.
