By the passing of the "District .Courts Act of 1858," our rulers hold out a fair promise that justice, i.e. justice as the result of litigation, shall no longer continu.:what it has so long been in this :cplony; an expensive luxury in which onily persons with heavy purses and,.plenty of leisure time could by ansy, p.ssibility indulge. while men of small.:means or whose time was fully occupied, .acted more wisely in putting up with dishonesty .tr loss than in .attempting..to regain -their own. by invoking the assistance .of thelaw. THE LATE FATAL ACCIDENT. [Newspaper Article] — Wagga Wagga Express and Murrumbidgee District Advertiser — 11 December 1858

THE LATE FATAL ACCIDENT.—   An inquest was held before the dis- trict Coroner, Dr. Waugh, on Wed- nesday last, at Mr. Bagwill's public- house, on the body of the unfortunate man, William Booth, who was killed on Tuesday afternoon, by falling under the wheels of his dray. The facts elicited were substantially as stated in our last. We may add, however, that Booth was, as far as could be ascer- tained, last seen alive by Mr. Belgrave,   who lives by the road-side, a short distance beyond Jones's public-house. Booth was then riding on his pony, alongside the dray, without the saddle. He was tipsy, and was riding very   close to the wheels. Belgrave saw that the man was running some danger, and advised him to he careful, but Booth took no notice and made no reply. From the manner and position   in which he was riding when seen by Belgrave, it is probable he subsequently came into contact with the dray and lost his balance, falling unde...
