Mus tard was below sending up dirt and fast ened the bucket insecurely, it stiuck the side of the shaft while ascending, and the full buokot of dirt fell fifty feet upon Mr. Mustard, cutting his head and striking his shouldftr, forcing hiui to his knees and biuisiughim on the body, Sturgess, tho man on top, went two miles to get assist ance to get his mate up. Mustard re gained consciousness when qot out, aud is now progressing favorably. * * Bush firos were raging here last week and did .1 good deal of damage. Mr. J. Nichol lost a houso which had just beon built, through tho firo made by the con tractor to cook his dinner spreading to the grass. The mau had his tent burued and everything he poBses«edj and two miles of fenoing between Nichol's and the adjoining place wore also destroyed. Two other fires aro also raging between here and Clarkville in the jungle.
