MUNICIPAL MATTERS. [Newspaper Article] — Sunbury News and Bulla and Melton Advertiser — 10 December 1892

A special meeting of the Gibhorne Shire council was called for Monday last for the purpose of dealing with the auditors' report and the shire balance sheet for -he year 1892. There were present :-Crs Brady (in the chair), Lansdowne, Gardiner, Woodward, W. Farrell, Cherry, Allen, Callianan, Slattery, Christian, and M. J. Farrell. Cr Brady said the balance-sheet was on the table, and required to know if members took any exception to the items mentioned on it. The unfortunate   secretary was bothered right and left. Salaries £270, was challenged, office expenses, £21 0/6, printing, stationery, and advertising, £140/6/11. The latter was deemed excessive by members, but the secretary explained that three papers were advertised in until quite recently which would account for the expense. This did not satisfy. councillors and they wanted to know how much the printing and advertising came to without the stationery. However, this could not be arrived at and the business proceede...

Messrs Brady Bros., of Gisborne, applied for a renewal of a grocer's license for pre mises situated at Gisborne. These premises w.re licelsed up to December, 1892. Daniel, while the home team were led by Ben Campbell. ` The local skipper won the toss, and sent R. Eadie and W. A. Eadie to fare the bowling of Ned Whelan and Frank Daniel. Bob Eadie gave a splendid display of his batting capabilities,. knocking the ball about the field as he 'pleased and W.
