Hawkins, Ci Dvernuaent poultry expert, gave a lecture in the Prahran Town Hall on Tuesday evening last on the subject of Poultry Grading and M«oagement.as applied to Cottagers add älbfers. BOWLING On Saturday afternoon last the Prahran Bowling Club formally opened the season with due pomp and ceremony, when, at the invitation of Mr Donald Mackinnon, M.L.A., President, a large number of bowlers, local and visitors, also a large gathering of ladies, were present. Amongst those who attended were His Worship the Mayor of Prahran, Cr W. Fiintoft, several of the councillors, and Mr C. Wood, President of the V.B.A., and repre sentatives of kindred clubs. Mr Mackinnon unfurled a new club dag that was presented by Mr W. Richardson, a member of the club. The ceremony of throwing the first jack was performed by Mrs Donald Mackinnon, amidst cheers. The green was decorated with banting, a band discoursed music, and, with the exception of a slight shower, the whole proceedings were of a very pleasant character. The Standard SATURDAY, OCTOBER 13tb, 1906. At the invitation of the Mayor of Malvern (Councillor \V. H. Édgar, M.L.C.), the counciHors of the town on Sunday morning last officially attended the local Methodist Church, with which the mayor is identified. The Kev. Frank Lade said it was a happy acknowledgment of the re lationship of the church and state that civic bodies should occasionally visit the respective churches in their official capacities. The preacher delivered an instructive address on " The Ministry of Public Life and Service, taking as his text. " Even as the Son of Man came not to: be ministered unto, but to minister." A very interesting recital was given by Miss Felice^Crozier, the promising and talented violinist, in Glen's Hall, on Tuesday .evening.
