The Month. (VIA SAN FRANCISCO.) [Newspaper Article] — The Capricornian — 9 January 1875

The Montit. (Via San Francisco.) Since our last Summary 1S74 has dosed, and we have entered upon die new year. In Queensland die last twelve months have been marked by prosperity and progress. The seasons, except in the southern parts of die colony, where drought prevailed in early summer, have been propitious. In die Central and Northern Districts we have neither been afflicted with flooding rains nor prolonged droughts, and, on die whole, a better year for ifce grazier .and cultivator has rarely been experienced. This state of affairs, com bined with high prices for wool and stock, has tended to make the year die most prosperous ever experienced smce die first settlement of this district took place. The New Year has opened well, and everyone is looking forward with hope and confidence. Politics are very quiet, and there is nothing st present to excite discussieQ' We are living under an Acting-Governor, but hope before die end of die month to hear that Mr. Cairns has arrived and re...
