MR. FISHER'S SPEECH. Vote for the Liberal Candidate. [Newspaper Article] — Tocumwal Guardian and Riverina Echo — 18 April 1913

- MR. FISHER'S SPEECH. Vote for the Liberal Candidate. (By "Ailcla" in the Shepparton "Advertiser." The crimson dusk of shame man tles my cheek as I confess that I left the Prime Minister's speech unread day by day, and liow, when I waut to make up for lost lime, I am brought face to face with a Niagara of words which' I hesitate altemp'.ing to shoot lest I petish ia the attempt. If I had only taken the Prime Minister in daily do.-es, I might have kept pace with him. J am like the old man who, having neglected to take his mediciue one sixth part three; times a day, found himself confronted 'with the whole bottle, and swallowed the lot. I am now going to swallow the whole lot. The ingredients are, some of them, familiar; when Mr Visher writes a prescription for Australia we know there are certain ingredi eijts which will never be lacking ; but the tonic has a decidedly novel flavoring. . There is a German pro verb that "He who considers too much will accomplish little," and I am afra...

AGENT'S COMMISSION. [Newspaper Article] — Tocumwal Guardian and Riverina Echo — 18 April 1913

AGENT'S COMMISSION. An important judgment was re cently given in the Wagga District Court, before Judge Rodgers, affect ing property owners and agents. The case was one in which Thomas Flanagan and Co., of Wagga, com mission agents, sued J. T. Webb, of Manly, to recover ,£212 commission on the sale of land valued at ,£844S. It appeared that the agent had, through a sub-agent (Mr Haines of Berrigan), introduced a buyer (Mr. K. T. Gorman, of Nanguuia, Berri gan) but the defendant had chauged his mind and the sale was not effected. A verdict was given for plaintiff for the amount claimed, with the full, taxed costs of the action; The judgment establishes the right of the agents to reward in the nature of a commission even iviicre a sale is not actually effected, but where the acting agent produces a buyer who is willing to purchase the seller's laud at the price and terms which the agent has been in structed the seller is willing to ac cept, although the seller may ulti mately chauge h...
