Greetings From The Graduate Manager Associated Students Medical Center . As the new school term «f 1957 1958 gets under way, it gives me great pleasure to extend a hearty welcome to all the new students who are enrolling for the first time on this campus, and a special "Hello" to all the old-timers. CAL CLUB The California Club was organized in 1934 by its present president, Dr. Robert Gordon Sproul. The primary objective of the organization is to promote harmonious relations between the student groups of the several campuses of U.C. by striving to maintain the highest possible standards of sportsmanship, friendship and cooperation. It was through the efforts of the Cal Club that an All-Univer-sity newspaper on Charter Day was established. More relative to our own campus, was the establishment of the ASUCMC. The Cal Club is also responsible for the preparation of the president's reception for new students on this campus and for the execution of a successful orientation program throughout the year.

Messages From The Student Body Presidents What Every Dentat Student Should Know 'Welcome Dental Freshmen' [Newspaper Article] — Synapse - The UCSF student newspaper — 16 September 1957

Messages From The Student Body Presidents What Every Dentat Student Should Know 'Welcome Dental Freshmen' It is my sincere pleasure to welcome you to this new campus, and this new way of life. Dentistry is much more than just a profession, it is truly a way of life. Your entrance here at Cal places you squarely in the middle of this way of life. There are many differences in the experiences you have had previously on the college level, and those awaiting you in the ensuing four years. Dental school is extremely demanding of the student, not only in time, but in mental and mechanical anguish. We have a high academic standard to maintain, but at the same tjme the vocational aspect of dental school is equally and sometimes more demanding. Our contribution to health service cannot be'measured on a curve. It must be recognized and judged, according to a standard, not of perfection, but of timeproven adequacy. Your work in the next four years will help prepare you to meet and surpass this...
