FELICIANA SENTINEL. A TERRIBLE LETTER. LNew York Timet.J A great deal of discussion has arisen sinrco Mrs. Stuart committed suicide, as to the nature of four letters left by her and written just before she took poison. Tlle mnos: strenuous efforts have been made by the friends of the deceased to cuptress these epistles, and Coron or Woltman has refused to make them public. It has been learned, however, that three of these letters were to relatives,. and merely sta ted that she had determined to live no longer, bade ltcm farewell, and asked their pardon for her deter, mination. The fourth letter was addressed to her husband. It was couched in mild and affectionate language, but was absolutely terri ble in its contents. It called the attention of Mr. Stuart to their wedding six months ago; It refer red to the homes they had left to go through the world together. It re minded him of the blessing , happi ness and prospects they had started out with, and recalled the good reasons the bri...

You took my opinion of Nov. 20, 1860, and there you sar an exposition of the sub Jeet precisely the opposite of that which you wished to impute to me. Then you falsifled the record, suppressed what I actually wrote, and attributed to me seon timents which I never entertained or ut tered. Your account (of the paper and its contents is not only different from, but directly contrary to, all that is con tained in the paper itself. This is bad enough, but that is not the worst of it. In order to give some show of authenticity to your false version of my opinion you pretend to transcribe a paragraph; but your transcript is basely fraudulent. Let any man take volum...

,FELTCIANA SENTIN'L. evidence by connsel, knowing Its real character, would be extremely, danger oun. It would not only "be rejected, but the guilty connbelor would be punished, not in the same way (for there is a teob nical difference), but on the samn princi pie, that courts punish the ntteranco of counterfeit money. To pollute the ad ministration ofjnustice by prassing false and fraudulent documents upon a court is, indeed, very nmuch worse than -'shov ing the queer" upon a shopkeeper. Of'course, the wickedness of all fdis depeids on the ecfnster.. Involutntaty ig norance would be an excuse. But the corrupt character of tills certlificate was known to all the world, and being a publio fact, the commissioners as well as everybody- else were bound to know it; besides that, the evidence was exhib ited to their eyes; their rejection of it assumed it to be true; and they express ly ruled that no proof of fraud, however I clear, would diminish the value of the r false paper in their e...

The old year ha1s disappeared adown the declivity of time; the curtain has fall en upon her career; the old man with the hour-glass and scythe has accomuplishled his allotted journey ; the last grain of sand has passed fromn the glass, the scythe has sent its last victim into eternity, and 1877 has taken her exit from tile stage of tile earthly drama; "and thereunlto she shall never more ctllrn."
