Tux copies of the messages sent and received regarding tho alleged "opin iou" of the United States, which were published in a recent issue of the Daily Epitaph, hnvo excited general comment. The promulgation by Gov ernor Wolfleyand his organs of this extraordinary "opinion" excited but a smile of incredulity in the initiated, and but little credence was placed in its authenticity. None familiar with official routine in such matters be lieved for an instant that the Attorney General had so far exceeded his pre rogatives as to interfere in the man agement of another branch of the government without due formality. This formality, it was well known, had not been complied with, therefore the assurance that the opinion must be bogus. That belief was confirmed by the messages.
