THE SUN, SUNDAY, JULY 9, 1916. To the PRESS READERS of the SUNDAY SUN 9 BECAUSE of a series of reasons that we could not well bowl over we feel we are compelled to make our Sunday issue of the combined "SUN-PRESS" a conventional five cent paper with the many features such papers are wont to have. I want to take this opportunity to tell you, however, that my own decided preference is for a one cent Sunday paper such as the Sunday Press was, and evidently I am not alone in this preference as we built a circulation on our one cent Sunday issue in one year of 145,000. In the country it was not a success because newsdealers generally charged a price for it that readers would not pay. In spite of this, however, it was destined to run up to very big figures in its circulation half a million copies a Sunday, I fancy. The Sun, unlike the Press, has a ver...
