DAILY APPEAL. MEMPHIS- TUESDAY MORNING. JAN. 27, 1S57. HON. AKDKEW EWING. - A correspondent of the Nashville Union, in aa article containing the highest tributes to the ability and worth of this gentleman, nom inates bim as the next Democratic candidate for Gereraer of this State. The burthen of the article is that Mr. Ewiko, while battling man fully a&d effectively for his party for several years, has, nevertheless failed to array against him the bitUraess of the old "Whig party, by reason of bis habitual courtesy towards his op ponents. It is argued that Mr. Ewing has al ways arraigned with force and boldness the mta.tv.Ttt of the opposition, while he has ac corded honesty and sincerity to its men. For this reason it is believed he can carry a larger vote in a popular canvass than any man ia the State. Mr. Ewing is certainly a gen tleman of solid talents and unblemished potation, and is deserviBg of the respect all rata of all parties. re- KEMPHIS FEI2ALE COLLEGE. Through the ...
