There were present Chairman Heber Jarvis, Members John C. Hall and W. A. Saunders and Clerk Levi S. Udall. Minutes of the previous session of the board were read and ap proved. The transcript of school district boundaries of the county as re quired to be fixed each year by the county school superintendent was filed with the clerk and the same was approved by the board. Grimes notified the Board of his appointment of F. V. Barber as Deputy Ranger to fill the vacancy caused by Coles resignation. The .Board, unani miously approved the Appoint ment of Mr. Barber and fixed his salary at $50.00 per month to be paid by the County, and request ed the Clerk to write the Live Stock Sanitary Board asking that Mr. Barber be issued a commis sion by them and that his Salary be raised to $62.50 per month. The. summer session of the Su perior Court of Apache county convened Tuesday morning and the larger part of the morning was taken up in securing a jury to try the case of the State of Arizona vs. Luis Sandoval charged with an assault with a deadly weapon upon the person of Mar cos Baca- The case was turned over to the jury Wednesday, they returned a verdict of guilty. He was .given a suspended sentence of three years. While I know that it has been a busy season thus far in taking care of the fruit and vegetables, yet it seems to me that the need of making arti cles for use in the hospitals and an the field has been forgotten. There has been a call to the Red Cross from Major Grayson M. P. ,Murphy, who is the Red Cross commissioner for Europe, for 1,500,000 knitted sets comprising sweater, muffler, wristlets and socks.
