APRIL 11 The Covington and Cincinnati Suspension Bridge. . - A proposition now awaits the itpproYal of the people of Covington to grant the us of the streets for street railway, on condition that the grantees slmll provide for the com "" pletion of the bridge across the Ohio. One would suppose that the only tpiesfiou that fould be raised In the case was whether the grant for a street railway, which is in itself desirable, and which Is to be provided at br ' ", dlnary rates of fare, will socure tha additional t'j convenience of a bridge, and whether the grant is sufficiently guarded to enable the city to enforce Its conditions. The great advantages of the bridge to the city of Covington would hardly seem to admit of a question. Yet we understand that the grant will be opposed, on the ground that the railroad cqnnection which the bridge will furnish, will transfer the business of Coving ton to Cincinnati, and that freight and pas senger...

THE DAILY PRESS. HENHY RKEDCO, nrroas rnnaMi. THURSDAY - ....APRIL. 1'J Manufacturing Interests and Banking. We print In an A report read yesterday at the Mechanics' and Manufacturers' Exchange, from the Com mittee on Banks and Banking, a committee which, it would seem from its title and its report, is appointed to derise ways lor pro viding the mechanical and manufacturing business of Cincinnati with banking fccill tie. The report states: . , ."There is no city in the world of Squid im portance as a manufacturing point, where the parties concerned are so completely left to their own resources n Cincinnati, and there is no doubt that any measure of relief must originate witn tnemselves. . If the mechanical and manufacturing in terests of this city hare reached their present proud position o their own resources, cer tainly those hare prored to be a pretty safe re...
