THE RECESS. FROM THE N. HAMPSHIRS PATRIOT. When, erst th’ effhlgent source of light Was wrapt in chaos and in night, Darkness triumphant reign’d around, Vehement, infinite, profound. But when th’ Almighty Architect In hand the golden compass took, He from the centre swept the round. Which circumscrib’d creation’s bound. Then was th' Almighty fiat given, Which form’d the earth and starry heaven: Chaotic uproar heard the voice, Which bade revolving worlds rejoice. He in the centre placed the sun, Of Masonry the arch-key stone. The morning stars together sung, And joyful shouts Irom angels rung. Jehovah in the realms of light, View’d well {|>e plan, and mark’d it right; Void he fill’d with circling spheres, To dedicate return of years. To receive advice, reproof, and instruction, properly, is the surest sign of a sincere qod humble heart, and shows a greatne*%df(ipind, which commands our respect and reverence, while it appears so yield to us the superiority That friendship which makes the least noise, is'often the most useful; and a prudent is%enerally of more service than a--zealous one.
