A Woman s Whys [Newspaper Article] — Eagle Rock Sentinel — 24 September 1910
A Woman s Whys Why do we take the trouble of asking other people’s advice when as a matter of fact we go ahead and do just as we please. T? ? ? Why is it that the people who only remember you occasionally are the ones you would rather not meet at all. ?? ? ? Why should a man find contention and strife in the home after he has had to put up with that sort of thing all day. ?? ? ? Why would you rather see your grocer shake on a few more grains than take them off when he is measurin" out your sugar and tea. ?? ? ? Why are your most comfortable friends the ones who never seem to notice any of your short comings. ?? ? ? Whv do you detest the woman who always manages to let you know that her hats and gowns cost more than yours.

NEW BARN REPLACES • SINDERSAND ASHES Promptness of Insurance Co. Allows Rapid Reconstruction [Newspaper Article] — Eagle Rock Sentinel — 1 October 1910
NEW BARN REPLACES • SINDERSAND ASHES Promptness of Insurance Co. Allows Rapid Reconstruction Many questions concerning the adjustment of loss in the recent fire, in which the warehouse of the Eagle Rock Feed and Fuel Co. was destroyed have been asked of the proprietor, A. S. Johnson. “What do you think of insurance and how much trouble did you have in collecting your losses,” was queried of the doctor. “I would like to answer this question through your columns,” said Mr. Johnson to the “Sentinel” this morning. “The fire broke out in the early morning of Saturday, September 17, at about 2 o’clock,” replied he. “On the following Saturday morning at 9:3 d o’clock I received a check for my losses according to the contract. The adjustment was most satisfactory. I was able to begin the erection of a new building within a week from the date of the fire, which is due to the fact that the loss was so promptly paid,” continued the doctor. The place was insured by the London anod Lancashire In...
GLASSELL PARK PEOPLE BUY OF LOCAL MERCHANTS [Newspaper Article] — Eagle Rock Sentinel — 1 October 1910
GLASSELL PARK PEOPLE BUY OF LOCAL MERCHANTS The fine stores of Eagle Rock seem to attract the attention of the people of Glasscll Park. They apparently buy most of their provisions from the merchants here. The fare from that place to the city is 10c while it only cost.- half that amount to come here. They can buy as cheap here and the quality in most cases cxcclls mat given by the independent city merchants. There arc but ,a few business houses here but they are of as. high a standard as those in cities of five times the population. Glassell is a progressive community but the small population would not justify a store at present time.
