Robert Anthony Cook. Chaplain (Lt. Col.) Bern- ard C. Goertz, the groom's uncle, officiated at the ceremony. The bride, a chemical engineering major at Texas A&M, is the daugh- ter of Dennis and Gail Scheidt. The groom, a May nuclear engineering graduate of Texas A&M, ' is the son of Ramon and Doris Cook. Doris Cook will be remembered as Doris Goertz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe B. Goertz of Rockne. The bride, given in marriage by her father, chose a full length, white gown with empire waist. The bodice was covered with lace and a full skirt fell to a cathedral length train. The bride wore a double veil of illusion and carried a cascade of steph- anotis and ivy leaves. JULY 13.1978 Council Hears Zone Law SMITHVILLE — City fathers heard a proposed zoning ordinance and a report on police departments similar to Smithville's during their Monday session. David Dennis of Hunter Engin- eers summarized the zoning plan to the council, then joined associate Sam McKenzie and the Zoning Planning Commission to study the plan closer outside the council meeting. While the council seemed gener- ally pleased with the ordinance, its adoption probably will not be immediate. Dennis told the council that the Planning and Zoning Com- mission should study the proposed zoning lines and schedule work sessions with himself and McKen- zie. The shooting incident occurred about 11:50 p.m. Saturday near the West End Park just outside the Smithville City Limits. JULY 13. 1978 Rollers Beat Class, 9-6 BASTROP — The Smithville Hi-Way Auto Hi-Ra!lers. a newly- formed local women's team competing regularly in the Bastrop softball league, are presently tied for first place with the Super Chicks, each with a season record of 4-1. The Hi-Rollers secured their standing after defeating the Touch of Class team 9-6 Monday night. Coached by Daniel Salas, the Hi-Rollers are sponsored by "Fuzzy" Kellar of the Hi-Way Auto Parts Store of Smith- ville. Assistant coach is Ron Payne and team man- ager is Jackie Kraatz. The team was formed June 9 and the slow-pitch Hi-Rollers scheduled their first practice June 12 in preparation for their first game held only four days away.
