Greenback Club No. 53, Caddo Grove, Johnson county, is no doubt composed of honest men. who are members of the Greenback puny from a sense of duty, having for their object the triumph of princi- ples rather than the boosting.of as- pirants into oflice. They held a meeting July 221I and adopted the following resolution: Resolved, That we send delegates to the greenback convention at Fort Forth, with instructions in case that the platform of principles, as read at Austin, on the 20th of July, is adopt- ed by said Democratic convention, that we propose to try and harmon- ize on this platform and instruct our delegates so to act. Hon. George 11. Shannon, ex-sen- ator from Johnson county, presented this resolution of his club to the Fort Worth convention as a substitute for the platform submitted by the com- mittee, making an able speech in its favor. He was greeted with hisses and /'lootings. The preamble of the Fort Worth platform denounc...
