"ONE-MAN INNINGS." HAMMOND PRAISED Blackie Our Best Bowler. LONDON. January 2. [Newspaper Article] — The Register News-Pictorial — 4 January 1929

'ONE-MAN INNINGS.' HAMMOND PRAISED Bhckja Oar Best Bowler. LONDON. January 8. A most amusing contrast is presented uy this morning's posters on Fleet street. One says. ^England's Tail Crumples,' while an ofVav r»«rt. 'Auitraliari Wickets Fall.' ,Tbe Standard perpetrated the latter, but it admits in its cricket story that apart from Hammond, Tate, -and Jardine, Eng land made a woeful show. In fact, Ham mond's feat was the sole ground for rejoic ing. Tributes are paid to tbe veteran Blackie, for having so disastrously ended the visitors' first innings. The Standard devotes nearly two pages to a description )f the game, in which it is conceded that Australia is fighting back with a grimacs* md tenacity which may easily carry her to rictory. , 'The Australians have a chsnee of vic tory. They ar« fighting, and will continue to fight, desperately,' says Mr. P. F. War ner, in The Morning Post, in an article
