Thistle Prosecutions. At the|Berrigan court last week four'farmers of the Fitiley district appeared to answer charges of fall ing to exterminate saffron thirties fonnd growing on their properties. Mr Rhys David Griffiths appealed for the Berrigati Slilre Council. David Piuchen plodded guilty, and was fined jQl, with £\/<\/ cosls. Patrick Coppinger pleaded not guilty, and was de:ended by Mr H. P. Whitty. After hearing the evi dence, however, the Bench held the charge proved, and a fine of £1 was imposed with 24/ casts The case against 1\ J. Killeeu was dismissed. The defendant, who was represented by Mt Whitty, gave evldiiice that the land the subject of the charge was under crop right up to the fence.
