London, July 8. 1 Mr Dibbs speaking at the Imperial Federation, I<eaj»ae referring to the Australian ontloofe, declared for every £1,000,000 borrowed and spent in railways, land values increased £5,000,000. The colonies were de termined to obtain the inclusion of inscribed stock on the Imperial Trust Act and denied the colonies excluded immigrants. They were willing to receive thoes who would work, bat did'not want the scum or Oe&eral Booth's submerged tenth. Mr Hill suggested that the colonies should reaaore their tariffs. Mr Monro, A^rtit-OeneraJ for Victoria^ stated: the colonies Cayored Protection, because they believed it to fee the b*>st. They declined any dicta - tion on the matter. THE STRIKE IN PENN SYLVANIA. London. Jaiv 8. The collision between the strikers at Carnegie's ironworks and'tlie police is one of the most desperate Lal»or con flicts yet experienced in this country. The strikers, provided with artillery, entrenched themselves behind block ades and, eventually sallying- out, defeated the police. In the conflict six strikers were killed and 18 wounded, six mortally. The other side lost 9 Pinkerton police and 21 we»e badly wonnded. Subsequently, after the Pinkerton police were cap tured, 100 were roughly treated and all their baggage was burnt. The conflict h»s created a profound sensa tion throughout the United States
