Maunder /(Mayor of Holroyd and distict represi: ntaf.trve on the Waller and Sewerage BLtird) attended by In- vitation to enlighten aldermen on the presentí possibilities of pro- viding sewerage for Liverpool. After a short welcome by the Mayor (Aid. B. C. Fitzpatrick) for wheih he returned thanks, Aid. Maunder admit- ted that there was not much he could divulge on the subject at this stage. Investigations were going on. The Warwick Farm sewerage plant had been 1 put in in 1945 at the request of the I Commonwealth. It was big enough to provide for the needs of 3000-the whole of Liverpool. On completion it had been handed over to the R.N. and from them to the Water Board. Ever since, the Board had been trying- to reach | finality in the matter. The costs of construction had been very heavy and the Board maintained that there must be considerable reduction in these costs fcsfcre they accepted the plant. He had been tal...

COUNCIL SHORTS [Newspaper Article] — The Leader — 13 February 1947

COUNCIL SHORTS There will bs a civic "banquet" to Mr. McGirr. During the debate on the matter, Aid. Smith threw an awful scare intö soma of the others by suggesting that the aldermen, as apart from the Council pay for teh beano. Several normally silent members spoke volubly to get out of THAT. * ? * Someone has pinched forty tons of crushed stone from the Council. Re- ported by the town clerk on Tuesday night, it was decided to put the mat- ter in: the hands of the police. * * * "You were a bit high-handed in the matter.. You had no authority," ex- claimed Aid. Smith to the Mayor (Aid. B. C. Fitzpatrick) referring to the latter's admission that he had author- ised the installation of lighting of the showground by council. The Mayor: I've done it. What's Council going to do about it? I didn't give it a second's thought! * * * Mr. D. O. Murray informed council that he had obtained the appointment to Enfield Municipality and asked for a reference from this council. This was approved. *...

LIVERPOOL SHOW A BIG SUCCESS [Newspaper Article] — The Leader — 13 February 1947

LIVERPOOL SHOW A BIG SUCCESS 'I HK 41 si ANNUAL SHOW off Liverpool and District Agricultural. Horticultural and Industrial Society was held last Friday and Saturday and proved an outstanding success both as a spectacle and from the point of view of attendances. Under the presidency of Mr. W. Ed- mondson and the sacretaryship of Aid. B. C. Fitzpatrick, a big committee had worked energetically for months pre- paring for the event, and the refait muit have been gratifying to them. Th? ful enjoyment by the committee of the fruits of the labour was dampened however by the consciousness that their late president, Mr. Herb. Shaw, whose heart and energy had been devoted to the Society for years was not present to enjoy it with them. In respect for the late present the bag in the arena flew half-mast for both days of the Show. The first day of the show was ex- tremely hot and partly for that reason and partly because most citizens were at work cn that day, the attendance was not great. Local...
