THE REEOVAL OF NIGHTSOIL. At a recent conference of represen tatives from suburban and other municipal bodies hold to consider the the question of the removal of night soil, a committee was appointed to confer with the corporation of the city of Melbourne. The committee now reports that it had an interview with the health committee of the City Council; at which it represented the extreme inconvenience, annoyance, and danger to health suffered by the residents in the municipalities within a radius of 20 miles of Melbourne through the present system of the disposal of nightsoil, the points espe cially dwelt on being-1st, the want of a proper system of deodoristtion before it leaves town ; 2nd, the care. less manner in which it is carted through the districts referred..t,, quantities being frequently spilled along the roads in transit; and 3rd, and more especially, the offensive odour from the carts returning to town.
