On the i3th inst., the meetilig called by the Mayoress was very largely at tended;'and a committee being formed, ,work was at once commenced, and has been carried on' steadily for the last fortnighlt. Over 450 garments, com prising slirts, .Nightingales, belts, and mufflers,-have been given out to be made up at lyme, a constant stream of willing .\\rkers applying for flannel and wool: Most of the garments have been returned, and the committee hopes for the remainder by Saturday, in order thit everything may be sent to the Lady Mayloress. 'Th'le pre sentation took the form of group, photos, of the "A" and " B " teams, with an'enlhrgement of the president's photo, in between: and around these were photos, of no less, than forty individual members and officers of the club. Said he : ""Those are good stories ; but the Sbest dog story I ever heard was of .Chinese origin. I'll tell it as I got it at Shanghai, where I was station ed for some time. " "A Manchu had three dogs. Re turning home on one o.casion, he found them on his couch of teak-wood and marble. He whipped the dogs and drove them forth.
