ELTHAM SHIRE COUNCIL. The monthly meeting was held at Kangaroo Ground on the 5th inst. Present-Crs. Taylor (president), Bath, Gray, Hubbard, Mann, Morris, Murray, Smedley, and White. CORRESPONDENCE. From shire of Doncaster, agrecian, to inspection of bridge over Yarra at Warrandyte by the engineers of theshires of Eltham and Doncaster and an engineer from the Public Works Department. - Doncaster council to arrange date of inspection. From shire of Heidelberg, advis ing that it approved of the accept ance of the Concrete Constructions Pty. Ltd. for the erection of a new bridge over the Diamond Creek at Hurstbtidge (This work is now in progress.) From Edwin A. Saxton and 27 residents of Eltham Heights, Glen Park, and surrounding district, ap -plying for permission to build, at their own cost, a footbridge over the Diamond Creek. On February xo, a meeting was held of ratepayers of Mlortmorency in the Presbyterian hall to discuss the ways and means of approaching the Eltham Shire Council as to the taking over and maintenance of roads in the Greensborough Railway Sta tion Estate. On the motion of Dr. Adams, seconded by Mr Taylor (Fitzroy), Mr Sharp was voted to the chair pro temrn. On the motion of MrAuty and Dr Adams, Mr D. Massicks was ap pointed huon. secretary. ELECTRIC TRAMWAYS. EXTENTION TO HEIDELBERG. Cr Bastings, a member of the Fitzroy, Northcote and Preston Tramway Trust, reported to NIorth cote council meeting on Monday night on the construction of the St. George'sline. He said it had been agreed to co-operate with the Foots cray trust in calling for tenders for rails, it being considered that such co-operation would be advantageous to both bodies. The tenders re ceived, however, were not accept able, because the lenderers would not undertake to deliver the rails be fore the early part of 1918. In re gard to the proposal for a line of electric tramway to serve the eastern portion of Northcote, Heidelberg council had a scheme before it for a line to cross the Darebin bridge at Livingstone-street and along Station street. In view of the announcement that the authorities would not con sent to the creation of any more trusts, he thought it would be advis able for Heidelberg to have the line constructed as part of the undertak. ing of th...
