Eastertide. Originated in Paganism, Easter is taken. Irom the Greek word pasoa—meaning "the passover", the festival of the resurrection of Jesus (Christ; but probably derived its name originally from Eastre, a Saxon god dess, whose festival was annually kept about the same time as Easter. Jn th£ ancient Church the celebra tion of Easter lasted an octave (eight flays). After the 11th century how ever, it was limit!ed to three, and in later times, generally to two days. He declared that General 4emlnotf, who 1b under arrest In New York, is guilty'ot wholesale murders General Graves admitted the testi mony of American officers, who saw a tratnload of Bolshevik prisoners sent out return empty. Investiga tion revealed great common graves where the massacred captives were burled. Other evidence showed that General flemlnoff's troops murdered five American soldiers. Lieut.-Colonel Morrow testified that General Semlnoffe Chief Lieut enant executed men by the hundreds, cutting them to pieces with their sabres.
