ELECTION OF MAYOR     THERE was a special meeting of the Municipal Council, yesterday, at twelve o'clock, for the purpose of electing the Mayor for the ensuing year. Aldrmen Jackson, Macfarlane, Bundy,   Feez, Higson, Sharples, Ferguson, and Walton   were present. Alderman FEEZ moved that Alderman Jack-   son he elected Mayor for the ensuing year.   They were aware how satisfactorily Mr. Jackson had performed the duties of Chief   Magistrate for the past year, and as the com- pliment of re-election had been paid to   previous Mayors he thought Mr. Jackson also deserved it.
