273 Men Pledge Fraternities; AZ Retains Scholarship Lead Group Averages Show General Increase .. Alpha Zeta, with an average of 1.78 for the second semester of last year, retained first place in the fraternity scholarship standings for the third consecutive semester, according to' "Registrar William S. Hoffman. Charitides was first among sororities and _Fairmount Hall was the highest housing group. The All J College average jumping from 1.36 to 1.49 and other groups showing similar increases. As in the past, sororities ranked much higher than fraternities, the lowest being on a par with the upper third of fraternity houses. The ""composite non-fraternity average jumped from 1.33 to 1.61 and_*was higher than the composite fraternity average of 1.31. Three fraternities dropped below a 1 average. There were two fraternities and one independent group below this mark for the first semester, 1940-41. Changes in All-College ratings from the first to the second semester are as follows...
