MAY BE CIRCUIT JUDGE . Governor Northcott Only Awaits the Legal Decision from Hamlin . If the attorney general says he is eligible , Lieutenant Governor Northcott will be a candidate for circuit judge in his home district There has been considerable talk of this for some time , but no formal statement was made until last night , when Governor Northcott stated that all that stands between him and an announcement of his candidacy is the question of his eligibility . Whether the lieutenant govern ©^ of , the state may at tne same time hold a judgeship is to be decided by the attorney general . If Mr . Hamlin says there is no constitutional bar . then Mr . Northcott will run . As the district is republican and he would have no opposition for the nomination he would be elected . He announces his withdrawal from the Modern Woodmen as a head officer , and he will be a candidate for no office in the gift of that order . Bryan two-fifths , and to the daughter Emily C . Cheever , the remaining three fifths of lot 11 , block 11 , in John R . Whites addition to Urbana . now part of Champaign . To A . H . M . A . DEWEY AND THE FRISCO Urbana Man Goes to Penfield to See Railroad Claim Agent . M . A . Dewey , of West Green street , went to Penfield yesterday ; Mr . Dewey owns a large tract of land near that place through which the new Frisco cut-off is to pass , and the object of his trip Is to settle with the company for the damage resulting from going through his farm . Mr . Dewey s tract consists of 720 acres , and the proposed route cuts through it diagonally . The company s claim agent is now in the vicinity and has offered a liberal settlement with the land owners and it is said the majority . of them are accepting .

By an official change in the running time ol the Southern express , the flyer of the Orleans Railway of France , the Empire State Express of the New York Central has regained the title of ( the fastest train in the world . The Umpire State express has now been running for ten years , and established a long-distance record which was not excelled until the Orleans flyer from Paris to Vienna was inaugurated . The . Southern express then humbled the Kmuire State , for it made the entire run of 438 miles in a few minutes less than eight hours , its average speed , including stops , being fifty-four miles an hour . The Southern express had thus accomplished what the railroad flyers ot all other nations had failed to do .
