This belief has been instilled into tho minds of very many ot the people through some of the newspapers, by scalawags and lunatics, who, by some means or other, have in duced tho publishers to circuiato their traohy, not ioasical idcts. They try to convey tho inforenco direct, that if it was not ior these patents tho peoplo would bcsuppliod with sewing machines " cheap as dirt." It is all bosh.
