The citizens of the village of Stur gis have been kicking up quite a breeze among themselves lately in regard to spiri tual affairs. Seme two or three weeks ago the noted Ira Davenport and daughter arrived there, and commenced giving ex hibitions of what the Jonrnal calls "spirit ual manifestations in demonstration of the immortality of the soul' without license. The proper authorities demanded that Da venport should take out a licence, which he refused to do, whereupon he was ar rested and held to bail in the sum of 8200 to appear at the nest term of the Circuit Court. No sooner was this done than a Deputy United States Marshal stepped for ward and demanded a government license to be paid.
