WASHINGTON LETTER According to reports from Wash ington speculation is rife as to the course which will be pursued by Speaker Cannon in regard to the seri ous charges preferred against him b; Representative Herbert Parsons, the leader of the Republican organization in New York City. Mr. Parsons, who has been a consistent member of the Cannon forces during his congressional career, asserted during the municipal campaign which preceded the election of Judge Gaynor as mayor of the greater city that Speaker Cannon had entered into a compact with Tamma ny Hall and the New York state Re publican leaders whereby the Tamma ny Democrats in Congress were to aid "Uncle Joe" in his struggle for con tinuance in power and the Republican state leaders were to assist Tammany in electing its New York city ticket. Mr. Parsons made these charges with out reserve and has i;,st come out with a reiteration of them. Speaker Cannon has unequivocally denied them and there the matter is now resting. The Spea...

YELLOWSTONE MONITOR. ABSOLUTELY INDEPENDENT. Published at Glendive, Dawson County, Montana by E. A. MARTIN. SUBSCRIPTION PRICE, $2.00 PER YEAR Entered as second-class matter March 3, 1905, at the postoffice at Glendive, Mont., under the Act of Congress of March 3, 1879. THURSDAY. DEC. 2, 1909. It is not generally known, but the fact remains that there is more agri cultural land ii Dawson than there is in any other county in the state, and the day is coming when Dawson will be one of the very best counties in the state. In Dawson county, which has generally been looked upon as good for nothing beyond a range for sheep and cattle; you can take a steam plow and run a furrow for 100 miles without striking a rock. The soil is deep and fertile, and there is sufficient rainfall in Dawson county to make dry farming a success. Therefore, it will not be long until it proves the greatest and best farming section of the state. -Joseph Osler, Assistant State Land Agent. Final Tribute Paid DeArmo...

CUSTER'S LAST STAND. As a bor-office attraction, the re enactment of the Custer Massacre, presented in motion pictures at the Cozy theater last night by the Mon tana Motion Picture company, certain ly gets the money, and as certainly gives satisfaction. The house was packed to the doors for two shows, each consuming one hour and a quarter, and it has been a long time since such crowds have been seen in front of a Livingston theater clamoring for admission. During the progress of the first performance peo ple congregated in surprising numbers, filling the foyer and overflowing out into the street. At one time there were several hundred men, women and children lined up in front of the playhouse waiting for the first show to let out so they cud get in. The pictures are wonderfully clear and distinct and depict that historic battle between Custer and his com mand in all its tragic aspect. The last stand made by Custer and his handful of men, surrounded by bloodthirsty Indians, is shown ...

SUBSCRIPTION PRICE, $2.00 PER YEAR Entered as second-class matter March 3, 1905, at the postoffice at Glendive, Mont., under the Act of Congress of March 3, 1879. THURSDA". DEC. 9. 1909. SOME PRESSING NEEDS The remarkably clear-headed logic brought out at the Tuesday night meeting at the Court House, called for the organization of a chamber of commerce, presented some facts which show that our city and county have several pressing needs, which should be supplied in the near future. One speaker in particular, Mr. Reed, an Iowa gentleman who has been heavily interested in Dawson county real estate for several years past, and has witnessed the gradual transition of our country from a stock district to an agricultural one, pre sented our chief needs. He stated that if Glendive is to get the farmers' business, the city will have to make concessions to them for handling their produce,...
