REMARK(AIII.B;E sr'c('0 . As soon as it was definitely decided that the Washburn-Crosby mill was to be located at Great Falls the question of supplying grain for it naturally came up. Thinking men began to discuss the best methods of bringing the farmers to appreciate the situation and TIEr Tatm rCE threw out a suggestion that a con vention at GOeat Falls would be the proper way to settle the business. This idea gained ground every day thereafter until the convention became an assured fact, and now it has been held, its mission has been well perform ed, and its success surpassed all that its promoters ever dreamed of. It is evident that the next convention cannot be held in a room with less ca pacity than the opera house. The dis trict court room was entirely inadequate to the needs of yesterday's sessions, and there was a feast of reason and flow of soul there such as is seldom witnessed in such a gathering. Had the public known of the treat that was in store for them in the way of...

FOOLIsH TACTICIS. Day after day the Butte Miner con tinues to direct personal ad'-ce to Mr. Dixon and Mr. Collins on what they ought to do in the senatorial premises. Considering all the circumstances, many of the Miner's articles might be easily called impertinent, and some of them are abusive. In yesterday's paper Mr. I)ixon is called upon to "withdraw," and Mr. Col lins is as summarily required to uspeak." Now, the Miner means well enough, but its zeal oversteps its discretion. The senatorial contest in Montana pre sents several conditions which have never arisen in any similar contest. They are unique in the present case, and the ;Miner knows as well Hs anybody else exactly what they are. Neither of the candidates objic'ted to by the Miner is able to turn a single vote to Mr. Clark. Their supporters are men who are voting right along every day in conformity to their convictions, and it is unjust for the Min,-r to muake insinuatins as it doe, abtut "'Lr.en promise's." ani suc'h t...
