Tame Eels. A gentleman of Rockport, Mass., has idomesticated some eels by feeding them in a brook, till the largest one, two feet long. will allow him to take it into his hands and treat it as a kitten. When the owner goes to the brook, he calls them with a peculiar whistle, and they come rushing briskly from down stream. Not long ago he broughl them his usual lunch of fish and mackerel, when only the large one came. One ancient author supposed that eels were born of the mud; another that they were produced from particles scraped from the bodies of large eels when they rubbed them ,, selves against stones. There is a popu lar notion in many districts in the north of England that eels are generated from horsehairs deposited in springs and r...

Wiater Bonnets. The small close bonnet and the large sp"aint poke are the favorite bonnets this season; the former is for dress and the latter for general wear. The small bonnet has been adopted by young la dies, to the entire exclusion of round hats for dressy occasions, even the be corning fur beaver Gainsboroughs hav intg been relegated to misses and chil dren. White plush bonnets are perhaps the most popular of all for full dress, and are often trimmed with two rows of fluted gold-lace around the front and back, while the feathers are white ostrich tips and gilt pompons. The plush is put over the front in and to the edge of the crown ...
