ANNUAL MEETING, The annual meeting, held in the Shire Hall on Friday, March 17, was very well attended, and a commend able spirit of co-operation prevailed throughout. Mr. Reg. Payne (presi dent) occupied the chair, and extend ed a welcome to all. I The statement of receipts and ex penditure was submitted to the meet ing unaudited. The secretary apolo gised for this, and said it was dueto the late arrival of accounts and the fact that quite a number of outstand ing members' tickets had not been re turned or paid for, most of those re sponsible having been notified by let ter. Big Attendance Wanted The Executive Director of UNICEF. Mr. Maurice Pate, said: that nearly six million women and children in Europe and Asia were despera ely in need of medi cal supplies and food.' Tubercu losis was almost endemic throughout areas where war or revolution had passed. Thous ands of small children were-suff ering fron this dread, disease as a result of starvation 'and ele mentary care.
