Finance Problems. Shire Accounts Adjusted. At Monday's meeting of the coun cil, the secretary (Sir Piers Kelly, C.E.) reported as follows:— I hare to report that, acting uudor. instructions received at tha April moating (when it was unanimously agreed that the secretary be instruct ed to re-write the cash book for the five financial years 1908 to 1913), I have since that time completed the work. The cash book at September 30th, 1906', showed how each riding stood financially, but from that date onwards there was apparently no cfEort made to show the amounts re ceived and expended by the various ridings; and in a number of cases amounts which should have been deb ited to trust accounts were debited to ridings. In writing up the credit side of the cadi hook there was little trouble, as the amounts received for rates each year were obtaiuablo from the rate book, and the other principal receipts, viz., Government subsidy, lioanses equivalent, and Government graut.3, were easy to distrib...

No More Indigestion, It seems reasonable to .suppose that in a short time there will be no more indigestion or dyspepsia. The old stylo "digestives" such as bismuth, pepsine, charcoal, soda, etc., which after all are only temporary in their effect, are rapidly becoming discarded in favor of a simple antacid, kuown to chemists as Binuratcd Magnesia, with the result that physicians are being called upon to treat fower cases of stomach trouble than ever before. This is not sq yory surprising when it I is remembered, that, according to available statistics, over 90 per dent, of all troubles are duo to acidity. Uisuratpd magnesia may readily be obtained from any chemist at u small cost, and half-a-teaspoonful taken in a little water after meajs will imme diately neutralise all harmful acids in the stomu.ch, prevent fermentation, aud thus render ths food easy of di gpstjon; .
