ADVERTISING. [Newspaper Article] — Werribee Shire Banner — 30 May 1912

ADVERTISING     There is no Business that cannot be benefited by live, judicious advertisi ing. In country towns the people in business sometimes say, "Why should I advertise Everybody knows where I am and what I sell." But that is an error. It can be proved erronous by the Railway and Coach manifests and the parcels post lists at any provincial centre in which the local business men fail to realise the need for keeping the people in touch with all they have to sell and how they sell it. It is safe to assume that by for the greater part of the goods that come from the cities through mail orders could be obtained locally of as good quality and as cheaply is the city house can supply. But people need to be educated up to this, and it is through the advertising columns of the Local Newspaper that the education can be effected. Moreover the Business man's annoucement in the Local Newspaper is a standing invitation to do business with him. And that carries weigh...

General Printing. [Newspaper Article] — Werribee Shire Banner — 30 May 1912

General Printing. There is nobody who does not need Printing of some kind. The Business man requires the numerous lines that are called for in the regular course of his operations. In addition, if he be live and up-to-date, he   should have circulars and price lists to supplement his newspaper advertising in keeping his customers, present and prospective, in touch with what he is do- ing and how he is doing it. There is no business that is not susceptible to the leaven of Plenty of Printer's Ink judiciously used. Societies and Clubs require Rules, Prgrammes, Tickets, Syllabus Cards, Circulars, etc. Every organisation needs Printing and in placing the orders it should be borne in mind that the local newspaper expends a lot of time and labor in giving the publicity which is the breath of life to every public institu- tion. Other people want Printing for private use. Just to mention one item by way if illustration, Letter Paper should have printed headings. It costs very l...

GIRLS MEN AVOID. [Newspaper Article] — Werribee Shire Banner — 30 May 1912

GIRLS MEN AVOID. Oh, yes, there are some girls whom some men are glad to avoid, even though they may not do so openly. Girls and women that men cannot tolerate are: Those -who deprive a father and mother of comforts in order that they may be stylish and smart beyond their means. Those who gad about with men of whom they know but little. Those who bedeck themselves with   jewellery the first thing in the morn- ing, as such a display suggests bad taste and a vulgar love of show. Those who adopt mannish attitudes and pose as athletic specimens of their sex. Those who boast of their numerous   conquests and declare openly that the man does not exist whom they deem good enough to marry. Those who sit and stare a strange man out of countenance, and then com- plain that he returns the rudeness.
