Third Day. Met at ;1 p.m. Minutes of previous sitting were read and confirmed. The debate on the proposal re the press was resumed. After a discussion covering all points, it was decided that in view of the financial responsibility incurred in undertaking a -federal election campaign, the proposal to pur chase a machine capable of print ing ' The People' to stand over anc that a fund be opened to raise sufficient to pur chase a small platen machine to do a jobbing, trade, and thus within the space of a couple of months permanently increase the income of the office. The minutes of the sitting wore then read and confirmed, and the conference closed.

Municipal Platform. Was adopted as follows : a COMPREHENSIVE LOCAL GOVERNMENT ACT to provide for : (1). One Adult One Vote. (2). Payment of Councillors ; until then, Councils to meet at night time. (3). The consolidation of Sydney and suburbs into one governing body, Newcastle and other large centres to be similarly consolidated. (4) Election of Mayor by the people. (5). Councils to have power to un dertake any industry which the voters may decide upon. The following were adopted : Municipal candidates of the League to be pledged to the following : 1* All municipal work to be carried out without the intervention of the contractor ; employees to elect their own overseers. 3.
