Fast Walking Hones. [Newspaper Article] — The Moruya Times and South Coast Journal — 15 May 1889

Fast Walking Horses. Profits are small on the farm, and all waste must be prevented ' to make both ends meet.' Waste of time is one of the tilings to be looked after ns closely as anything else, and with it the kind of horses that arc k-ept has considerable to do. Compare tlie dis tance travelled in a dny by a strong, sturdy, fast-walking team, with that which tt slow, creeping team will tmvel, and the difference will be surprising. If the difference of a day is so noticeable, what must that of a year or the average life time of a Iiorse bo ? If tho slow team pulls a plough or draws a load about 20 miles per day, while tho other covers 25 miles with as little fatigue, it -s easy' to calculate what the difference would be in a year, and liow long it would take to g'ain a whole year's time by, using the active instead of the slothful horses.
