The ice completely stove an , ! sunk the steam boats Lady Washington and New Jersey , and materi ally injured , by staving or running ashore , the Chesapeake . Senator , Robert Fulton , Guyandotlc . Companion , and Friend , —with a dreadful destruction to keel and flat boats along shore . In ten years on the river I have not seen such destruction . The ice on the Ohio has not yet broke .
