In another column wo publish an act "to'autborize certain county commission ern to furnish necessaries for the desti tutc of their rcspectivo counties to put in crops." Saline county is provided for in this act, and itscimmissioners arc authorized to furnish tho destitute with such necessaries as may in their opinion boneeded,notex2ecding.in value tho sum of S75 to any one person, to support and enablo such porsons to put in crops during tho approaching spriug season. To raise the money needed they are au thorized to issuo county warrants, or scrip, which will probably take the form ot "Relief scrip" to be used only for the purpose of tho relief provided form the act. It ia a startling fact that one pair of rats, with their progeny, will produce in three j-ears no less a number than 648,808. A doo rat each 3e:u for four years togeth er, and from twelve to twenty-throe at a litter j and the young docs will breed at three months old, and there are more females than males, at an average of about ten to six. If they ran about the streets like cats and dogs, the public would be terrified, but as they hide and work in the dark, men seldom see or think of them.
