There was no improvement in prices or demand, consequently only a few cattle changed hands. Kansas City closed lower agrain today. The bottom seems to have fallen clear out of the cattle market, and there is little encourage ment for shippers at present. The hog market opened steady at Saturday's closing price, $3.40, and packers' grades and the business of the day was done on that basis. The re ceipts of both cattle and hogs were lib eral and ahead of expectations. There Is no improvement in the situation on the cattle market which rules inactive and -weak. Very few cattle changed hands here as salesmen would not let them go at prices which the buyers wanted to pay. Kansas City closed weak. July L Mrs. Annio jVicIntyre -was found to be of unsound mind in the county court yesterday and ordered committed to the state asylum for the insane at St. Joseph. The testimony given before the court showed that at the time of the Glendale robbery, perpetrated by Jesse James and his gang on October 7, 1S70, her son, John A. Alclntyre, -was tele graph operator at the station in Glendale. The gang took the young man down the track threatening to kill him. Mrs. Mc Intyre was living with her son in the rail way station house and she became so frightened by the threats of the bandits against him that she lost her reason and her mind has since been unbalanced. The re ceipts of both cattle and hogs was again liberal. Trade was more active in the cattle pens; double the business was done of any day this week. Most of the offerings were fair to good cows and heifers and sold at 5 and 10 cents lower than yesterday. No improve ment in eastern markets. The hog mar ket opened about steady and several car loads which were on the early mar ket sold at yesterday's figures, $3.37 1-2. Later advices from eastern mar kets noted heavy runs and lower prices and this market declined 2 1-2 to 5 cents. Bulk of sales at $3.32 1-2 and $3.35. WIOHITA LIVE STOCK MARKET. WicnrrA. Kaiu.
