CAMPBELL, PEEW & CO. EDITORS A>'D PROPRIETORS. MONDAY 9fOK.VI.VCJ. FEB. 19. V Tub bill for tho pormnnent location of the capital still bangs tire in tbe Sen ate. Alter Laving been taken tip and discussed two days at the close of last week, tbe bill was again laid on tbe ta ble without result. It now 'seems Im possible that the Lef^slatore, with the iu formation now before it, can agree upon this subject. While a matter of much interest and practical importance, this question has already absorbed tbe time and attention-of the Legislature to the exclusion and serious detriment of other and most necessary legislation. Tho time allotted for the session is rap idly nearing a close. The forty-five days expire with the first day of March. Only ten more working days remain, and we learn that both Houses are largely opposed to any extension of the session. We learn also that there Is a great deal of business in each House awaiting action, and some,-very essen tial, not yet introduced....

Ocr River Trade.?The re-opening of the river and the resumption of nav igation will render appropriate, we think, some remarks from, as on the above subject. Itisu fact acknowledged by all, that we possess to-day a river trade which is the pride of the city. This result has only been attained after years of hard labor, and after the out lay of a great deal of money. We now have several weekly Cincinnati pack ets, and a daily line of jackets between here and Parkersliurg. These boats, and especially the latter, while they ac commodate, in general terms, the trade and travel 'between the two muin points, are the means of communica tion between the intermediate points and the cities. In their trade they bring to our wharves much produce of the country below, and orders for the man ufactures of our city. We cannot esti mate what a great benefit this trade is to us, and ...

CAMPBELL, FBEW A CO. EDITORS A.M) PROPRIETORS. Tl'CMDAT MOB9MO, FEB. IO. The bill providing for a registration of voters, after considerable amend ment and two days' distmssion, -was passed yesterday by the 1 loose of Dele gates, by a vote of 38 to 6, a few mem l>era being absent, a majority of whom would have voted against it. Had all been present the vote against it would not have exceeded a dozen. To correct the misstatements made by certain "democratic" sheets, we take the liberty of stating that a careful estimate made by the Auditor shows that the cost of carrying the registry law ln?o operation will be less than $12,000. A MEETixa of the wool growers of this region, jon both sides of the river, is called at La grange, On the 3d of March. The call will be found in our advertising columns. It is very desira ble, we may say in connection with this meeting, that the wool growers of West Virginia should form themselves into an association. They will thus be en titled to delegat...
