Agcording to the Houston Post the Adjutant General when applied to for state troops to defend Kendall at his com- ing trial in Washington county said if a criminal cannot be tried in one of the best coun- ties m the state without the aid of military force civil law had best be abolished and martial law declared at once. An Austin special to the Gal- veston News says that each time Kendall has been tried at San Saba for killine Brown frontier troops have been de- tiiled for his protection. He is soon to be tried here at Bren- ham but the adjutant general refuses troops saying the volun- teer militia here can give pro- tection if needed.
