Drought Broken. A GLORIOUS DOWNPOUR. [Newspaper Article] — Tocumwal Guardian and Riverina Stock Journal — 23 May 1919

Drought Broken. A GLORIOUS DOWNPOUR. All fears at a disastrous drought, similar to 1914, wore happily dis pelled by a fine, soaking downpour which sot in daring Wednesday morning, and continued with brief intermittent intervals for upwards of 36 hours. The amount of rain re corded up to 9 a 111. yesterday was 88 points, and at G o'clock last evening this was supplemontod with a further 70 points, and it was still raining The rain hus been of a. goneral liaturo covering a wide expanse of country, and its value to the farming and pastoral interests cannot' bo over-estimated. Pastures will now be assured, early sown crops will ro spond with certainty, and farmers will be able in a great measure to plough and now with* a reasonable amount of confidence as to the result of next harvest . Rainfall to 9 o'clock this morning totals 170 points.
