PLAYGROUND FOR CHILDREN i SOUGHT. Rev. Osborn and Mr. G. Crichton attended the Alexandra Shire Coun cil meeting and made an appeal for a playground for children at the south ern end of the town. They made an earnest plea for the project, and pro. :nised to help with it. The Rev. Os born is president of the National Fit: ness Council and Mr. Crichton a mem ber of the committee. One of the reasons given was that parents in the southern section were reluctant to let their children cross the shopping centre to attend the play ground in the park; they would like to make an endeavor to secure an area of land for the purpose. They would ,like something small for a start, with swings, etc. Cr. Weeks stated that voluntary la bor had been promised, and members 'of the National Fitness Council were most enthusiastic. Cr.
