Latest Telegrams. (nOH OEB OWK OOUE8K3DEBT.) j LcnrDOXt Toeeday. Mr Gladstone has announced in the House of Commons yesterday, that following the preoedent established after the battle of Waterloo, he was negotiating a convention with Egypt, charging to that country the cost of the army of oocupation- and there : WOUia De no 'y'11 lur wynuum w late expedition. Sir Stafford Northoote objected to the precedent, and quoted it was not at all analogous to the circumstanoes under which the Egyptian campaign had bean entered upon, and protested against the zefionncs ot the Premier, and incompleteness of his explanation. The health of the British troops in Egypt continues to improve. The Land Commission reports that satisfactory progress has been made at equitably fixing the rents as between landlords and tenants. A select committee of the House of Commons, to whom the sentenoe passed by Mr Justice Lawson on Mr Dywer Grey, M.P., proprietor of the ' Freeman's Journal,'' was referred, have re...
